We have set up a free book exchange in our library to encourage reading for pleasure.

Being a small academic library on one of our university’s satellite campuses, we don’t have a huge variety of books; they are all related to the couple of technical subjects that students study here.

To remedy this, we set up a trolley near the entrance to the library, full of used books that have been donated by members of staff. The idea is simple; anyone in our campus community (staff, students or visitors) are welcome to give or take as many books as they like.

They are mostly fiction books, with a few cookbooks thrown in for good measure.

We had originally introduced the book exchange last year, during a wellbeing campaign, and it proved to be so popular that we kept it going. It had been removed during our recent renovations, but now the dust has settled, it is back in place.

Let the reading commence!
